Over all industries, growing pressure on manufacturers can be recognized to shorten time-to-market
and to cut expenses by reducing physical prototypes. Consequently, there is an increasing demand for
innovative PLM solutions which include simulation tools to virtually determine product behavior and
performance at all phases of the development cycle. Thus, while physical prototyping can be reduced,
the feedback on engineering issues can significantly be increased, leading to better products and shorter development times.
However, for effective PLM solutions process-oriented simulation software is required,
featuring a set of prerequisites to address the high productivity demands of PLM.
Within Dassault Systèmes´/ IBM´s portfolio, most aspects of PLM have been successfully addressed (see chart).
In the field of virtual prototyping/analysis there are various tools available, too.
Process Oriented Fluid Flow Analysis has not been available.
